Galaxy S8 rumors: Upcoming Samsung device to boast of major upgrades

(Samsung)Shown in the photo are the Galaxy S7 Edge and the Galaxy S7. Rumors claim that Samsung will announce the release date of the Galaxy S8 on February 26.

Although Samsung is not expected to unveil the Galaxy S8 at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017, it is said that the upcoming device will be the best smartphone the company will offer — thanks to the major upgrades Samsung has introduced to the line.

Samsung always reveals the latest version of its Galaxy S line at the MWC for the past 6 years until it decided to delay the release of its highly anticipated Galaxy S8 this year. Hence, instead of making the reveal at the MWC 2017, it is now said that Samsung will come up with its own event in March and unveil the Galaxy S8 there.

However, even before the device is launched, the latest reports claim that fans can already expect that the Galaxy S8 will be the best smartphone to date that Samsung will offer as it will come with major upgrades, including the latest Qualcomm processor.

While it is true that the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S7 came in a curved-edge variant, it is said that the Galaxy S8 will only come in a curved-edge variant as it gets rid of the flat-screen version of the device.

Despite coming in curved-edge variants only, though, it is also alleged that gadget fans will still be presented with two options of the Galaxy S8 as, reportedly, the device will be available in two sizes: the 5.8-inch Quad HD display and the larger 6.2-inch QHD AMOLED model, the S8 Plus.

Reports also say that the Galaxy S8 will be devoid of a physical Home button as it is suspected that the said feature will now be embedded beneath the screen of the device.

As the leaked images of the Galaxy S8 appear to have two front cameras, some suspect that it may come with the iris scanning technology, too.

Meanwhile, rumors claim that Samsung will launch the Galaxy S8 on March 29 and drop it in the market on April 21. As sources claim that while Samsung is not unveiling the Galaxy S8 at the MWC 2017, it is likely to make an announcement there as to when it will release the device, and finally confirm if the Galaxy S8 will really be released on the said date.

In the event that Samsung, indeed, launches the Galaxy S8 on March 29, only by then can it be confirmed if the mentioned rumors about its specs and features are really true or not.
