'Avengers: Infinity War' release date, news: Jeremy Renner confirms return

(Facebook/Avengers)"Avengers: Infinity War" will premiere in 2018, followed by "Avengers 4" in 2019.

The cast list goes on as another superhero has been confirmed to return for "Avengers: Infinity War." Jeremy Renner, who plays Clint Barton aka Hawkeye, will be suiting up and getting his arrows ready for the next ensemble film.

Renner recently spoke to Collider while promoting his new film with Amy Adams, "Arrival." And while speaking to the publication, Renner expressed his interest in coming back for another "Mission: Impossible" film. However, he is unsure if the schedules will align because he has "Avengers: Infinity War" on his docket.

"'Avengers' is going to eat up a lot of next year, I certainly hope it doesn't ultimately get in the way of Tom [Cruise] and I and the gang getting back together for that because I'd love to," Renner said.

The actor also teased that there are going to be a lot of characters coming back for the superhero film. This is not surprising, especially considering what they are going to be up against. Avid fans know by now that Thanos will be the main antagonist of the sequel, having built him up for so long. His quest to acquire all infinity stones is almost complete.

Key characters like Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), and Vision (Paul Bettany) are returning for the third "Avengers" film. It was previously reported that Benedict Cumberbatch and Chris Pratt will also be joining the team. Cumberbatch recently made his debut as Doctor Strange, while Pratt will be reprising his role as Star Lord/Peter Quill.

But with the recent falling out of Iron Man and Captain America in "Civil War," how will they sort their differences and join forces to take down a powerful foe like Thanos? According to Cumberbatch, he thinks his character may be the answer.

When asked whether he is Team Iron Man or Team Captain America, Cumberbatch told Yahoo Movies, "I think [Doctor Strange] has to be Team Doctor Strange."

"His job title is defender of the fabric of reality. I mean, he fights other dimensional threats that are beyond the perceptions of that very potent squabble [between Cap and Iron Man], and I'd like to think he's going to help them both, rather than take sides," the "Sherlock" star explained.

The Russo brothers, who are set to direct the upcoming movie, have been scouting for filming locations and took to Instagram to share an interesting staircase. And while the duo did not give away any details, it certainly seems like the kind of place Doctor Strange would frequent.

Scouting.
