'Avatar 2' news update: James Cameron expresses confidence in upcoming Avatar sequels
In an interview, movie director James Cameron had a lot to say about the development of his current project, the upcoming sequels to the 2009 blockbuster hit, 'Avatar.' Much to Cameron's satisfaction, the director used exaggerated words and descriptive terms suggesting that 'Avatar 2' will be a continuation of the epic legacy it has started.
"I can tell you one thing about [the sequels]," the director said in an interview with Empire Magazine, adding, "They're gonna be bitchin'. You will sh-t yourself with your mouth wide open."
Cameron, in a past interview, initially wanted to shoot the Avatar sequels in 60 frames per second, but changed his plan and reduced the number to 48. One reason that could have changed Cameron's mind is the 48 frames for second standard used for 'The Hobbit' movies.
"My thinking at the time was that 60 [FPS] might be a better segue to the video market," Cameron explained in the interview.
"I'll be plugging into a system that's a little more mature, so it makes sense for me to do 48 frames at this point," further revealed the director.
The production of the sequels was pushed back due to a delay from the franchise's writing team consisting of Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver, Josh Friedman and Shane Salerno, who all worked together to build a solid story line.
