'Aquaman' rumors: Upcoming DC movie to feature Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam?

(Facebook/Dwayne The Rock Johnson)Rumors claim that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Black Adam character will be featured in "Aquaman."

Although avid DC fans know too well that Black Adam is the nemesis of Shazam in the comic books, the character will appear in Jason Momoa's upcoming "Aquaman" movie.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will be more visible in future DC and Warner Bros. movies. Although he will be featured in the planned "Shazam" movie, he is set to appear in various DC movies first so that, reportedly, fans will become more familiar with the character. While some think the idea is odd, unconfirmed reports claim that one of the future movies Black Adam will appear in is "Aquaman."

As "Aquaman" will feature Orm (Patrick Wilson) as its main villain, it goes without saying that much of the action will focus on the two characters. As to how Black Adam's presence will be woven into the story, fans can only speculate for now and confirm it once "Aquaman" arrives in theaters on Oct.5, 2018.

Apart from "Aquaman," it was also rumored earlier that Black Adam will also appear in "Man of Steel 2." The said speculation stemmed from Henry Cavill's Instagram post last Christmas showing a photo of him with Johnson that came with a caption saying, "Today we drink like gentleman and come together as friends. We're excited for what the future brings," and followed by the hashtags "Dangerous Gentleman," "DC Worlds Will Collide," and "Superman."

While it is uncertain if Johnson's Black Adam is really appearing in "Aquaman" and "Man of Steel 2," it is confirmed that DC will feature the villain in his own standalone movie. According to reports, the movie will be produced by DC Films in partnership with New Line Cinema.

The Hollywood Reporter opines that the move of DC to give Black Adam his own standalone movie is just proper, especially that the character will be played by Johnson who's stature in Hollywood is unquestionable. However, the move, likewise, led to the reconfiguration of the "Shazam" movie, which is slated for a 2019 release.
