Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) event will finally commence on Monday, June 13. It is where the tech giant company brings together developers and engineers, and usually where they unveil some of its latest offerings. Rumor has it that Apple Watch 2 will be unveiled at the event.

The Apple Watch 2 has been rumored to be launched at this year's WWDC. However, new reports reveal that it is unlikely to be released at the event. It could be released in September — Apple's usual month to release new gadgets. The upcoming smartwatch will also most likely be unveiled along with the upcoming iPhone 7.

Although Apple has not released any specifics about Apple Watch 2, rumor has it that it will include a circular-designed variant, but most of its design will just be similar to its predecessor, only slimmer.

According to reports, the smartwatch will be more independent from the iPhone. The first Apple Watch was met with negative reviews because it was too dependent on the smartphone. The upcoming wrist device will also come with an independent WiFi connectivity. If this turns out to be true, then it can be expected that the device can make calls, send emails, receive SMS, and independently update apps.

Its possible specs include the same OLED display and a boost in battery life through improved software that could last to two days. The Apple Watch 2 may come with FaceTime camera, which enables users to do video calls. The built-in camera could even have a 5-megapixel resolution.

Additional smart bands options will also be introduced. These bands will have health-related and sleep monitoring features in them. Speaking of bands, there are rumors that Apple has secured a patent for a magnetic wristband, which has a one-of-a-kind functionality.

When WWDC starts, more details about the Apple Watch 2 may be made available. The event will start its session at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium.
