Porsche has released the latest sports car joining its Motorsport lineup, the 2016 Cayman GT4 Clubsport. The all-new Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport made its debut during 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show. The mid-engine entry-level track-only race car has been designed for amateur and club racing. It is based on the Porsche Cayman GT4, which is the street-legal model.

Just like the 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4, the track-ready Clubsport race car is powered by a 3.8-liter flat-six engine that produces 385 horsepower. However, the Clubsport race car has been given a 6-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission with shift paddles located on the steering wheel. The PDK transmission allows for quicker shifts for attaining maximum speed.

The track-only Clubsport race car also comes with a mechanical rear-axle locking differential. It was also given the lightweight front suspension strut front axle and braking system of the 911 GT3. As a result, the Cayman GT4 Clubsport is 100 pounds lighter than the road-ready GT4.

The Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport also features the following safety equipment: a welded roll cage; a six-point harness; a special racing bucket seat; and a central fire suppression system. Overall weight for the race car is 2,866 pounds.

The North American version also comes with an 18.5 gallon FIA FT3 safety fuel tank but drivers have the option to upgrade it to 26.5 gallons. The Porsche Clubsport also boasts 18-inch five-bolt forged wheels with slick Michelin racing tires.

The Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport is expected to make an appearance at the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, the Porsche Club of America, the Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy USA, the Ultra 94 GT3 Cup Challenge Canada and the Pirelli World Challenge.

The 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport can now be ordered from Porsche Motorsport North America for $165,000.

For car enthusiasts who prefer a road-ready car, the 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4 is also available for purchase for $84,600.
