iPhone SE vs Sony Xperia Z5 Compact: Apple trumps with better design and hardware
While the iPhone SE has been welcomed since its unveiling a few days ago, there are other similar-sized devices in the market waiting to take it on. One of these is the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact, and this is how these two smartphones fare in a face off.
Design
In this category, the iPhone SE is head and shoulders above the competition as it has a full metal body. Its corners are rounded even though it retains much of the design seen on the iPhone 5s. A fingerprint scanner is incorporated into the home button and the device comes in gold, silver, space gray, and rose gold. Coming to the Z5 Compact, it has no metal on its body, but its plastic build is quite sturdy. However, the fingerprint scanner is on the side of the device where it is included in the power button. As for colors, the device comes in white, black, coral, and yellow and it also has an IP 68 rating, which means it is water and dust proof.
Display
When it comes to its display, the Z5 Compact is the bigger device and comes with an IPS LCD screen measuring 4.6 inches with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and density of 323 pixels per inch. As for the iPhone SE, it has an IPS LCD display measuring 4.0 inches with a resolution of 640 x 1136 pixels and density of 326 pixels per inch.
Hardware
On board the smartphone from Apple is an A9 chipset, coupled with a dual-core CPU and a PowerVR GT7600 GPU. On the Z5 Compact is a Snapdragon 810 chipset, coupled with an octa-core CPU and an Adreno 430 GPU.
Memory
Here, the Z5 Compact is ahead as it comes with a microSD that supports the addition of up to 200 GB of external storage, while the iPhone SE does not have a slot. However, when it comes to RAM, each of these devices has 2 GB on board.
Camera
There is a 23-megapixel camera on the Z5 Compact, while the iPhone SE has a 12-megapixel version.
Price
Without a contract, the iPhone SE costs $399, while the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact costs $423 unlocked.
