2017 Mitsubishi Mirage news: Hatchback comes with aerodynamic design and enhanced performance
Mitsubishi has introduced the 2017 Mirage during the Los Angeles Auto Show. The hatchback comes with a new exterior design and performance updates as well as impressive fuel economy.
The 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage comes with a fresh new look. It has a redesigned hood, chrome-framed grille, front and rear bumpers, LED lighting and 14-inch and 15-inch alloy wheels. It was given a purposeful and aerodynamic design to help maximize fuel efficiency, and the simple design also helped reduce weight. The car was engineered to illustrate how form and function can come together.
The 2017 Mirage is powered by the same 1.2-liter three-cylinder DOHC engine, which can be paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic gearbox. Unlike its predecessor, however, it features the MIVEC variable valve-timing system to further maximize fuel efficiency and minimize exhaust emissions. It also gets a roller-type camshaft that helps increase power outputs. The 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage produces 78 horsepower and 74 lb-ft of torque.
Handling and brakes were also improved by optimizing spring rate and damping force of shock absorbers. Mitsubishi also added stiffness to the front end to further improve handling and stability. The Mirage comes with bigger brakes and a new brake pag.
The hatchback's interiors were also updated. The new model comes with new seat fabrics, gauge cluster, steering wheel and shift panel. It is fitted with a new 300-watt Rockford-Fosgate audio system with EcoPunch and an infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
Safety features include a 7-airbag system, 4-wheel anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist, tire pressure monitoring system, active stability control with traction control logic. The Mirage with CVT transmission also come with Hill Start Assist.
The 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage will arrive at U.S. dealers by spring 2016. Pricing information will be revealed closer to its official launch.
